CAPS RE-SIGN FLEISCHMANN
The Washington Capitals announced Wednesday they re-signed forward Thomas Fleischmann to a two-year $1.45-million contract.
The Capitals left winger is earning $495,000 this year and will make $725,000 in each of the next two NHL seasons.
Fleischman has six goals and 21 points in 53 games for Washington this season, his first full campaign in the NHL after splitting time between the Caps and AHL Hershey Bears last year, and in 96 career NHL games has 10 goals and 31 points.
The Czech Republic native was a second-round pick (63rd overall) of the Detroit Red Wings in 2002 Entry Draft. Washington acquired Fleischmann in a trade with the Red Wings on Feb. 24, 2004.
